20 energy companies have formed an alliance to charge EVs through a UPI-like system

23 Apr 2024

At least 20 energy companies have formed an alliance for an open energy network called the Unified Energy Interface (UEI), which is a unified payments interface (UPI)-like system for EV charging, the companies said in a statement. According to the Department of Science and Technology, UEI is a recommended standard for interoperability.

To facilitate seamless payment and transaction interoperability within EV charging networks, the alliance intends to address interoperability issues related to EV charging and grid demand response by collaborating with electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs). Companies like ChargeZone, Pulse Energy, Kazam, Sheru, Trinity, Turbo, and others are part of the alliance.
