POWERGRID and RVPNL Inked an MoU to set up a JV company

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) a Maharatna CPSU under Ministry of Power, Govt. of India has signed a MoU with Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) at a function held in Jaipur. It was signed in presence of R. K. Singh, Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, Bhajanlal Sharma, Chief Minister, Rajasthan, and in August presence of Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal & Mines and Smt. Diya Kumari, Deputy CM, Rajasthan. The MoU was signed by Nathmal Didel, IAS, MD, RVPNL and D. N. Rozekar, Executive Director (BDD & JV) POWERGRID in the gracious presence of Alok, Addl. Chief Secretary (Power) Govt. of Rajasthan and R. K. Tyagi, CMD, POWERGRID and other senior officials of Rajasthan Govt.  POWERGRID, RVPNL & other CPSUs.
 
This MoU has been signed to incorporate a Joint Venture Company for development of intra state transmission system in the state of Rajasthan with equity participation of 74% by POWERGRID and 26% by RVPNL. The proposed JV Company shall undertake projects worth upto Rs 10,000 Cr. in a phased manner.
 
During the ceremony, several MoUs and PPAs were signed between the Finance Department & Energy Department of Rajasthan Government and many CPSEs of Ministry of Power for development and strengthening of 3325 MW thermal and 29100 MW renewable energy projects, transmission system and infrastructure projects and other development works in a major step towards self-reliance in the energy sector.
 
As on 29th February 2024, POWERGRID has commissioned and operating 276 Sub-stations, more than 1, 76,762 ckm transmission lines and 5, 22,046 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of 99.86%
