22 Feb 2024

NGEN, an arm of NTPC, has inked an agreement with the Andhra Pradesh government for the development of an integrated green hydrogen hub. The land lease agreement was signed between NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) for the said project near Pudimadaka village of Atchutapuram mandal in Visakhapatnam district, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

"The objective of Pudimadaka Green Hydrogen Hub is to establish a world-class ecosystem for technologies in the new energy paradigm, including electrolyser and fuel cell manufacturing, associated supporting industries, start-ups, incubation and testing facilities, production, and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives (green ammonia/green methanol, etc.)," as per the statement.

The project involves the construction of India's largest green hydrogen production facility (1200 TPD tons per day), which will be converted into hydrogen derivatives such as green ammonia and green methanol primarily to cater to various export markets.
