US Electric Car Prices: Cheapest To Most Expensive

04 Jun 2023

The all-electric car market in the United States is expanding rapidly, recently reaching a level of approximately 50 various models,Today we will take a closer look at the prices of battery-electric vehicles (BEV), including well over 200 individual configurations (battery/powertrain/wheel size, all of which directly affect the driving range). The models covered include those that are currently available for order or reservation, and upcoming models.
The list is quite comprehensive, although we know that soon it will have to be updated to include several new models that are just around the corner (like the upcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV, Blazer EV, and Equinox EV, just to name a few).Preparing the list of 200+ individual configurations is a big task, especially with the constant changes to the lineups - including new model year cars, price updates, retired models, updates, or range rating announcements.

All-Electric Car Price Comparison
Today's list is the largest that we have ever made. It consists of over 200 individual configurations of about 50 BEVs, offered for MSRP prices from about $26,500 (around $20,000 effectively after deducting the federal tax credit) to over $250,000.

The least expensive model on the market is the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV with an effective price of $19,995. This model offers 259 miles (417 km) of EPA Combined range. The Chevrolet Bolt EUV is right behind, at $21,295.

There is a big gap between the two affordability leaders and the rest of the BEVs. The third least expensive model is the 2023 Nissan Leaf with a 40-kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery and 149 miles of range. Its effective price is $29,135 - some $8,000 higher than in the case of Bolt EUV because, like most of the models, it's not eligible for the $7,500 federal tax credit under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA).

The locally-produced Volkswagen ID.4, which effectively starts at $32,790 (62-kWh battery version), appears to be a good buy. The 82-kWh battery version starts at $37,790.The least expensive Tesla happens to be the Model 3 RWD, at $38,130, while the best-selling all-electric car in the country - the Tesla Model Y - is available at $41,630 (AWD version). That's only a few hundred more than the entry-level Ford Mustang Mach-E.The least expensive all-electric pickup is the Ford F-150 Lightning Pro (Standard Range battery) at $54,369. That's compared to over $71,000 in the case of the upcoming dual-motor Rivian R1T.As we can see in the list below, there are a very high number of models with prices between $50,000 and $100,000.
The most expensive BEVs on the market are the ones from Lucid, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW.
