Andhra Pradesh Tops Group II in State Energy Efficiency Index 2024

22 Sep 2025

Andhra Pradesh has emerged as the leader in Group II of the State Energy Efficiency Index (SEEI) 2024, highlighting the state’s strong commitment to sustainable energy practices. The ranking reflects the impact of multiple energy-saving initiatives across industries, institutions, and households.

A major contributor to this achievement is the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which installed India’s largest solar cooking system, capable of preparing meals for 15,000 people daily. The state has also mandated investment-grade energy audits every three years for industries consuming 1,000 kVA and above, ensuring efficient energy use across high-demand sectors.

In addition, retrofitting programs in schools and hospitals have generated annual energy savings of 552,734 kWh and reduced carbon emissions by 0.45 million tonnes of CO?. Distribution of energy-efficient appliances to 18,000 households has further contributed to annual electricity savings of 3.67 million units.

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) emphasized that coordinated strategies and effective communication have been key to these successes, helping India move closer to its Net Zero 2070 goal. According to BEE Director General Dhiraj Kumar Srivastava, the initiatives collectively saved 53 million tonnes of oil equivalent and reduced 321.06 million tonnes of CO? emissions, marking a significant milestone in India’s energy efficiency journey.
