Adani Power Ltd said today that it has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from MP Power Management Company Ltd. (MPPMCL) for the supply of electricity from a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant to be set up in Anuppur district.
India's largest private sector thermal power generator announced that the project will play a key role in meeting Madhya Pradesh’s rising electricity demand, driven by rapid industrialisation and urbanisation. The company will invest ?10,500 crore in setting up the plant and associated infrastructure.
"With India’s power demand rising steadily on the back of rapid economic growth—particularly in base load power—it has become essential to strengthen the nation’s energy infrastructure. Adani Power is deeply committed to securing India’s energy future by expanding capacity, adopting advanced technologies, and pursuing sustainable growth," said SB Khyalia, Chief Executive Officer, Adani Power.
"The Anuppur plant will be instrumental in delivering reliable, affordable, and competitively priced power to households and businesses, while bolstering both India’s and Madhya Pradesh’s energy security and driving sustained growth in the state," he added.
Adani Power has emerged as one of the lowest bidders in a highly competitive tender, securing a final tariff of ?5.838 per kWh. Under the contract, the company will develop and operate a new 800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power unit in the state, following the Design, Build, Finance, Own, and Operate (DBFOO) model, to supply power.
The unit is scheduled to be commissioned within 54 months from the appointed date. Coal linkage for the power plant has been secured under the Central Government’s SHAKTI Policy for Madhya Pradesh. According to the company, the project is expected to create 6,000–7,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase and provide permanent employment for around 1,000 personnel once operational.
