Lockdown constraints amid second wave of Covid-19 a downside risk for electricity demand: ICRA

Engineers India Limited (EIL) recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL). This collaboration aims to provide engineering services for the conceptual design and engineering of structures, systems, and components for the Bharat Small Modular Reactor.
As per the company, the collaboration is in line with the Government of India's vision to fast-track the development of nuclear power as a key source of clean, green, and reliable energy, reinforcing the country's energy security. It also supports the broader goals of the Nuclear Energy Mission for a Viksit Bharat, which aims to reach a nuclear power capacity of 100 GW by 2047.
EIL, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, offers comprehensive services spanning from concept development to commissioning across diverse industrial sectors. NPCIL, operating under the Department of Atomic Energy, is dedicated to the establishment and management of nuclear power plants throughout India.
The agreement was signed by the Director - Commercial of EIL and the Director - Technical of NPCIL, in the presence of EIL Chairperson and Managing Director, Vartika Shukla, and NPCIL Chairman and Managing Director, B. C. Pathak, along with senior management officials from both organisations, at NPCIL's Mumbai office on August 12, 2025.
