Centre Launches ?1,000 Crore ADEETIE Scheme to Drive Energy Efficiency Adoption among MSMEs

The Union Ministry of Power yesterday unveiled the ?1,000 crore Assistance in Deploying Energy Efficient Technologies in Industries & Establishments (ADEETIE) scheme, aimed at supporting Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in adopting cleaner and more energy-efficient technologies. The scheme was officially launched by Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Manohar Lal at Arya (P.G.) College in Panipat, Haryana.

The ADEETIE scheme, implemented by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), is designed to support MSMEs by offering financial and technical assistance. This includes interest subvention on loans, conducting investment-grade energy audits, preparing detailed project reports (DPRs), and ensuring post-implementation monitoring and verification.

Interest Subvention Policies and Budgetary Provisions

The scheme provides an interest subvention of 5% for micro and small enterprises and 3% for medium enterprises on loans taken for energy efficiency projects. Out of the total budget, ?875 crore is allocated for interest subvention, ?50 crore for conducting energy audits, and ?75 crore to support project implementation.

As per BEE, the scheme is expected to draw investments totalling ?9,000 crore, with MSMEs likely to contribute up to ?6,750 crore through potential loans.
