Honeywell has signed an agreement with NTPC Green Energy to collaboratively explore the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in India. The companies will collaborate to explore the use of Honeywell's proprietary eFining technology to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) using carbon dioxide (CO?) captured from NTPC’s power plants and green hydrogen.
"Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production constitutes a significant component of NTPC Green’s ambitious Green Hydrogen Hub in Pudimadaka, Andhra Pradesh. We believe that the mandated blending of SAF in jet fuel within the aviation sector will act as a key catalyst, accelerating early-mover projects in green hydrogen development," said D.M.R. Panda, Executive Director (Green Hydrogen), NTPC Ltd.
The company said that the collaboration aims to advance decarbonisation goals and support airlines in achieving their carbon reduction targets. It also reinforces India's energy security objectives and highlights Honeywell's commitment to the global energy transition.
Ranjit Kulkarni, Vice President and General Manager of Energy and Sustainability Solutions at Honeywell India, stated, "Our partnership with NTPC Green will utilise Honeywell's specialised knowledge in SAF solutions to effectively manage emissions from thermal energy, promote the adoption of green hydrogen, expand feedstock options for SAF production, and support India’s aviation industry in achieving its long-term environmental goals." Honeywell delivers cutting-edge solutions and innovations across multiple sectors, including aerospace technologies, industrial automation, building automation, and energy and sustainability.
