In a significant development aimed at strengthening power availability in Uttar Pradesh, Adani Power Limited has emerged as the successful bidder to supply 1500 MW of electricity to the state. The contract was awarded through a competitive bidding process conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) to meet the region’s growing energy demands, especially during peak summer months.
According to government officials, Adani Power’s winning bid ensures reliable and cost-effective power delivery under a medium-term power purchase agreement (PPA), expected to span the next five years. The power will be sourced from Adani’s thermal power plants, primarily the ultra-modern facility in Jharkhand, which is already integrated into the national transmission grid.
This move comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to see surging industrial activity and residential consumption, requiring robust power sourcing strategies. UPPCL officials emphasized that the agreement aligns with the state’s energy security goals and will play a vital role in preventing power outages during high-demand periods.
Adani Power, one of India’s largest private thermal power producers, reaffirmed its commitment to supporting India’s energy transition while ensuring uninterrupted supply to high-demand states. The supply is expected to commence in the third quarter of FY 2025-26, subject to regulatory clearances and logistical coordination.
