India and Denmark have officially renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy cooperation, reinforcing their long-standing collaboration in advancing sustainable energy solutions and green technology. The renewed agreement was signed during a high-level bilateral meeting held in New Delhi, attended by senior officials from both countries, including India’s Union Minister for Power and New & Renewable Energy, R.K. Singh, and Denmark’s Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard.
The updated MoU strengthens the India-Denmark Energy Partnership (INDEP), focusing on key areas such as offshore wind development, energy efficiency, green hydrogen, grid integration of renewables, and long-term energy planning. Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to sharing best practices, policy frameworks, and technological innovations to support their respective climate goals.
Under the renewed agreement, joint working groups will be expanded, pilot projects in offshore wind and energy storage will be accelerated, and private-sector collaboration will be encouraged through new trade missions and investment facilitation platforms.
Minister R.K. Singh emphasized, “This partnership with Denmark is a key pillar of India’s journey toward net-zero. By combining Danish innovation with India’s scale and ambition, we are setting a global example of climate cooperation.” The MoU builds upon the success of earlier collaborations under the Green Strategic Partnership, launched in 2020. It is expected to further enable India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030 while supporting Denmark’s vision of becoming a global leader in clean energy exports.
